Canada's gone election wild!.. wait, no it hasn't So we're voting here today for who should be the next Prime Minister of Canada. Unfortunately, we have the sorriest excuses for leadership material in the last hundred and thirty years. All the candidates are old white people who make you want to set fire to the country, collect the insurance, and go live in the Bahamas for the next 4 years. I certainly don't want to vote for any party on the right, but all the parties on the left are obnoxious morons. Out of the two main parties that have a shot of winning, the Liberal party have recently resorted to claiming, logically, that anyone who doesn't vote Liberal is probably a racist.. and then the other party, the Canadian Alliance is led by a Creationist who refuses to work on Sundays. It makes you wonder, what is this country coming to? Screw it, I'm voting Bloc Québécois.

New TV for Canada Canadians are getting a chunk of new TV channels soon. There are 16 English Catagory 1 channels (which cable companies have to show), plus 262 cat 2's (which cable companies don't have to show). There's also new French channels, but we don't care about those. Here's the list of the main ones: - 13th Street (Mystery)
- The Biography Channel
- BookTelevision: The Channel
- The Canadian Documentary Channel
- Connect (for the 12 to 20-somethings)
- FashionTelevision: The Channel (from CHUM.. yuck)
- Health Network Canada
- Independent Film Channel Canada
- Issues Channel (people debating things)
- Land & Sea (farm channel)
- Men TV (coming in about 7 years after the womans channel)
- PrideVision (Gay & Lesbian)
- Techtv Canada
- Travel TV
- Wisdom: Mind, Body and Soul Channel
- WSN (Women’s Sports Network)
Some of them (Techtv, Documentary Channel, Indie Film) look good, but some (Land & Sea, Fashion TV, Indie Film) could really blow. Read the official CRTC release here.

Webcam Have you ever looked in the background of a webcam? That's the good part, seeing where people live, as opposed to watching a giant head staring right back at you with blank expression all day. Today I found spida, and the bedroom in the background looks like the bedroom of a house i almost moved into about a month ago. Wood panelling is sexy.

Netscape 6 ate my brain So I don't know.. I've tried using NS6 for a few days now and I almost like it. Although, if the skins weren't so slow, and if there weren't so many mysterious tie-ins to AOL/netscape hidden in there (the print button has links to buying ink & paper from them.. ugh), I could almost love it like my own child. On the plus side, it renders rocketpack/pixilated's pages better than ns4, and it also looks kinda pretty (we likes the pretty things). Either way, it's only so-so. IE may be boring, but damit, it works.

Oh the pain, the pain I was observed in the classroom today by my professor from university (I'm a student teacher in a grade three class), so I was a bit nervous/distracted. First thing in the morning I was fixing a bulletin board with a stapler when, since I was thinking about other things (the observation), I managed to send a staple into my fingertip. There was a surprising amount of blood. Also, this weekend I was hanging a door in my basement. It all worked out fine, except that as I was throwing a scrap piece of wood out, I got a giant thick, inch-long splinter imbedded into that same finger. I can no longer tap or prod people without some kind of long pointy stick.

Free things Lookit, I found this place where you get to answer a FREE consumer survey form! It's just like the consumer surveys you answer over the telephone, except it's on the computer! The only down side is that you get sent a Rosie O'Donnell book in return. Bugger!

Pretty things I want to touch Ramen, my favourite designed weblog ever, has changed designs. I wonder if I'll get away with stealing the old design now? Trust me, if you didn't see it, you missed out. It was art.

Welcome to Funkyland It seems as if at different points in the year I go through different emotions. For one season I may be happy, and for another I may be depressed. For a long time I was feeling pretty happy with myself for some reason. Yet unfortunately it seems it was one of them "dot-com happynesses"... ie: it was all fun and games until someone pointed out that we weren't making any money and some people from Wall Street came and beat us. At the moment I seem to be going through a period with an emotion similar to that found at Christmas or Valentines: anger. I dunno why I feel angry, but I feel an urge to express myself by doings something extreme like changing the background colour of my webpage from white to black. Either that, or I could burn some things. Maybe I'm just having too good a semester at university. It seems the better my academic life is, the worse my love life and my social life are (note: by "love life" I mean "sex life," and by "social life" I mean "sex life.") Or maybe I'm angry because television and movies -- the two things supposed to let me escape my real life -- have nothing but utterly dreary crap on at the moment. Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, and that delightful Juliana Margelies, where are you? Other News: I've decided to build my own country. I'll call it Funkyland, and I'll be the President. No, better yet, El Presidenté. Yes, the first language will be Spanish, even though I don't speak it myself. And the official unit of currency will be the golden Dablune. Stay tuned.

Election mania is sweeping the nation Damit people, why can't you just vote for a new president like everyone else? There always has to be some kind of drama, doesn't there? Oh well.. at least our Us vs Bush and Us vs. Gore comparison charts get to stay current for a bit longer.

Mmmm.. flemmy I took lots of vitamin C, ate healthy foods (kinda), and washed my hands non-stop, just so I wouldn't get colds as bad as I caught last year. Instead I get a nasty one before it even starts snowing. Stupid oranges.. useless fruity things.
