My country is stupid
I wrote about this before.. but it's very dumb and dangerous, and damit, it's happening in Canada: A kid is teased and bullied in school, and then he writes a story about it (except in the story the character gets his own back). So, as a result the police put the kid in jail for a month and he is expelled from school. Hmm, the kid who was bullied.. is the kid they put in jail. Smart. I like the idea of punishing the victims (as, apparently, do the police of Cornwall Ontario).

This is a wierd story. Workshop class was always the scariest class you could take in school, especially since every woodworking teacher seemed to be missing a finger or two. (Found this link off of 33mz.org, which is a very cool domain name, btw).

Well, I finally had to get rid of the Sugarwater link, which is kinda sad because it was my first link ever. (I miss the old bright yellow and pink..)

The fictional characters want me dead
A Canadian teen was arrested and kept in jail for a month because a fictional monologue (which he wrote as an assignment for a drama class) was considered violent. Lesson to be learned: the fictional actions of your fictional characters can get you thrown in jail. Now get out there and write the next Ulysses, damit.

Comics
I was reading Sinfest today, when I noticed an advertisment at the bottom of the page with my name in it. It was for another comic called Nukees, in which one of the main characters is named "Gav," which is the short version of my name (except hardly anyone calls me that.) I checked it out, except it turns out that the comic strip is in fact not about me and my wacky adventures, but rather about nuclear scientists or something.

I go riding on my scooter
While I was working in a school last year, I saw a bunch of those new colourful scooters being used in the playground. The kids were doing all kinds of complex tricks that would have made my inner-ear curl up into a ball inside my brain and weep uncontrollably.

Year 2000: annoying
2000 was filled with stupid stuff. I'm thinking specifically about George W. Bush... but other things were dumb too, such as the PS2 frenzy, and the explosion of webcamania (that is, people's giant heads staring at you from across the net on webcams, in real time.. except that they don't do anything), and of course that show Big Brother.
